Forgetting
I’m trying to talk to you,
So hard yet I can’t part with you,
It breaks me now to think of you,
How everything must have just slipped away,
Like you were sapped little by little, like a tapped tree
Because that’s what it took after all those days
To remove one’s soul,
Just the remnant of a shell,
Now I miss what I have never had,
And now you’re gone beyond retrieval,
But you lost everything before I lost you,
You had watched your world become blue,
Was it easier to go because you couldn’t reminisce?
But I only know is what you did miss,
I love you but I can never explain why,
I write this thinking, that for once, I might cry
since I never truly got to say bye,
They say you loved me
But how could I know?
So hard yet I can’t part with you,
It breaks me now to think of you,
How everything must have just slipped away,
Like you were sapped little by little, like a tapped tree
Because that’s what it took after all those days
To remove one’s soul,
Just the remnant of a shell,
Now I miss what I have never had,
And now you’re gone beyond retrieval,
But you lost everything before I lost you,
You had watched your world become blue,
Was it easier to go because you couldn’t reminisce?
But I only know is what you did miss,
I love you but I can never explain why,
I write this thinking, that for once, I might cry
since I never truly got to say bye,
They say you loved me
But how could I know?
